Baptisms
The sacrament of baptism is a joyful rite of initiation into the Christian life. It is customarily performed within the congregation where the family lives and participates. As a summer chapel without a year-round community, we are happy to celebrate this sacrament with and for families associated with St. Ann’s in some formal way. This includes belonging to a family with a historic connection to the parish or actively participating in the life of the chapel.
In the summer of 2026, we will offer baptisms according to the rite found in the 1979 Book of Common Prayer at our 8 and 10 am services on June 21st, July 5th, July 26th, and August 23rd. There will be a baptismal preparation session for parents and godparents (sponsors) at 10:30 am on the day before the baptism. We will meet in the church. Other friends and family are welcome to attend that too if they wish.
One of the promises that parents and godparents make is that they will “be responsible for seeing that the child (they) present is brought up in the Christian faith and life.” For this reason, we ask that you identify for us a year-round congregation (of any denomination) to which we can transfer the child’s membership following the celebration.
If you are affiliated with St. Ann’s and would like to have your child baptized, please email Andi Robinson to learn more. Note that there is a limit of 4 baptisms at each service, so please contact us early to reserve your date.
