What to Expect at our Worship Services

You can expect to be welcomed!

The worship service of Holy Communion is generally about an hour in length. It includes readings from the Old and New Testaments, a sermon, and music.

Fellowship

Once a month throughout the summer we enjoy Lemonade on the Lawn – a time for fellowship and refreshments after the 8 o’clock service (from 9 AM – 10 AM). It is a lovely time to meet new folks and visit with friends. Please see our calendar page for the dates of each event.

Music

While there is no formal choir at St. Ann’s, we have enthusiastic voices and a stellar organist, Ian Watson.

Before the 8 AM service, we sing a few favorite hymns accompanied by Ian on our electronic keyboard. During the 10 AM service, hymns are sung and Ian fills the church with wonderful sacred music on the church organ.

In 1994 St. Ann’s replaced the original organ with a digital Allen organ.

The Allen Organ Company is the largest builder of digital organs in the world. The organ provides the grandeur of a pipe organ’s sound but is not adversely affected by the extreme climate conditions in Maine. It never needs tuning and has never required a service call since it was installed. An added bonus is that this organ cost $55,000 instead of the more than $300,000 that a pipe organ would have cost (in 1994).
